Below are some images that I took to study a new lighting modifier and how its light quality affect face shape.
I began by lighting the side of my face and then i just rotated myself around so that the lightsource orbited my face changing the lighting direction. I light from right to left …or left to right, whichever you prefer. I then did another experiment with lighting height to show you all how the height and position can change the mood of an image drastically. I have studied lighting the face quite rigorously and it’s why my images look the way that they do.I hope that this was informative to you and feel free to let me know what you think by send me an email.
You can see in this last image that the catchlight has now moved to an unnatural position on the eye or iris, and thus gives it a horror look. Something that you want to avoid when taking a person’s portrait, if you are trying to get them more businesses.
