As a Spokane, Washington Portrait and Wedding Photographer I often get requests for retouching, AKA Photoshop or Digital work. This particular request was one that I have had in the past, and will continue to have. The request was to remove the braces, because she wanted her Senior Portrait to show her how she will look without them, obviously. The task is relatively simple if you think about it, “Take the braces off”. However not that many people actually know what goes into removing braces in a photograph. Here’s a break down, there is no magic button, no easy way, or quick method to do it. To remove braces I basically have to digitally reconstruct the smile. I do this with a set of tools in photoshop which allow me to build, add, imitate and copy textures, colors, etc. I basically have to be an artist something a photographer does, except that this time I used pixels instead of light. I have done some more involved processes in the past but removing braces is a couple hours work of work at high resolution. Hope you like this image, feel free to contact me with any photographic needs.
